You have to hand it to the Gardening Club, it puts on a good Flower Show. The same wonderful garden smells of flowers and vegetables greeted people to the Town Hall on Saturday last. Although the number of entries were down on last year, the quality was just as good and the judges were suitably impressed.
The cafe area was as usual very busy serving delicious tea, cakes and cream teas. Towards the end of
the afternoon, the room was packed with visitors. The produce was expertly auctioned by Peter Huntley from Cutcombe Auctioneers and the prizes were presented by Mike Buckland from Seddons Estate Agents, who sponsored the Show. Even Hector the hound felt quite at home and found the odd crumb to enjoy under the cafe tables.
What next for the Gardening Club? Well, there are some more trips and talks to enjoy up to Christmas (see the website) and then the big draw in the New Year, January 18th, is the talk by Charles Dowding of “No-Dig” television and books fame. This promises to be very popular and is bookable (members free and non members £5 in advance) Tickets from the Post Office.
